Certification

A certification process means to formally validate knowledge, know-how and/or competences acquired by an individual, following a standard assessment procedure. In other words, the holder of a certificate can prove that his/her competence has been tested and that he/she is able to perform what is stated on the certificate.

This is important for the individual because:

• The competences become visible and understandable
• It facilitates finding a job
• It is objective evidence of experience

But it is equally important for the employer because

• He can be sure he hires competent staff
• He has evidence of the competence of his employees
• This covers their liability
